“Wampum shell” sterling silver pendant – $160 sold

IMG_1449This pendant features a piece of Quahog clam shell that I found on the beach at Emerald Isle, NC.  This clam lives only on the east coast of the US.  Native Americans have used it for ceremonial ornamentation for hundreds of years.

The design is also taken from the sea, representing the waving blades of sea-grass.  The piece can be worn on a chain or a choker.
